Storyboard AND animatic
our task was to create a storyboard for our treatment 'i hear you', of the framings and angle shots that will be included in our trailer. The storyboard is the main backbone and structure of how the film trailer will be processed and how a film is made. it allows you to plan scenes chronologically. and works out the pace the trailer and movie will be moving at as well as giving an over view idea of what the final product will look like in a montage of image forms.
To produce the storyboard i had to use the backing track of 'i spit on your grave'. First on Final cut pro i had to cut up the trailer and establish how many shots were used IN IT. I CONCLUDED THAT THERE WERE 4O ACTION SHOTS IN THE TRAILER, 3 PRODUCTION SHOTS, 8 CAPTION SHOTS,A TITLE SHOT, A CREDIT SHOT AND 18 BLACK PITCH CUT OFF SHOTS. WITH THE RETRIEVED INFORMATION, I ACTED UPON IT AND DREW 40 ACTION SHOTS AND MADE UP A SENTENCES OR TWO TO CUT UP IN TO 8 CAPTION SHOTS. the WAY I APPROACHED TO BEGIN THE STORYBOARD WAS I WROTE DOWN A SENTENCES ABOUT EACH SHOT I WANTED TO FEATURE IN THE TRAILER, IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER. i NUMBERED THEM FROM 1-40, ELIMINATING SOME SENTENCES AS THERE WERE MORE THAN 40, then I ATTEMPTED TO DRAW THE IMAGES ON THE STORYBOARD WORKSHEET.
HOWEVER,ONCE I STARTED ADDING THE SHOTS TO PRODUCE THE ANIMATIC MORE SHOTS HAD TO BE DRAWN WHICH I HAVE ALSO SCANNED at the end of the 40 originally drawn ones. seven additional action shots were added to the animatic.

tHE STORYBOARD HAS ALLOWED US TO REALISE THAT WE NEED TO PRACTICE TAKING CAMERA ANGLE SHOTS AND THINK ABOUT THE EFFECTS WE WILL NEED TO USE FOR THE FINAL HORROR TRAILER. oNE THING THAT REALLY WORKS WELL FOR OUR STORYBOARD IS OUR STORY IS BASED WITHIN OUR COLLEGE AND ITS SURROUNDINGS, SO OUR FINAL FILM TRAILER CAN ACTUALLY BE PULLED OFF. wE JUST NEED TO THINK ABOUT HOW WE ARE GOING TO WORK ON THE SPLATTER ASPECTS(TORTURE) IN A SAFE WAY.
drawn ANIMATIC
Our story starts off slow and gradually speeds up, allowing us to tell the storyline leading to the consequence. the images worked well as they matched up to the sound. for example, in the backing track of 'i spit on your grave', you can hear a man screaming, the non diegetic sound of a clock ticking and a dramatic sound connoting to sounds you'd hear on a final day of judgement, you can see a montage of images where the torture begins and takes place.
Using Final cut pro i was able to shift images according to the action taking place in the shot to the pace it fits in with the backing tracking. This allowed me to establish that more shots were needed for certain areas of the trailer. i was also able to shorten the lengths of some shots if i thought it was too long to fit in with the idea of how i wanted our trailer to turn out. Allowing me to add shots together and move them about to create an effective animatic.
the montage of images of the torture scenes of our story, which is towards the end of the trailer, worked extremely well as you can see them in fast, quick shots within the trailer. This is very effective as the audience see quick glimpse of the horrific situations and would intrigue them to want to see more. The idea we've come up with especially the torture scenarios will give the trailer an outstanding performance if we can achieve them.
Final cut pro, has allowed me to acknowledge how film producers start of the process of processing a film trailer. And how important it is to map it out first for the production of any film trailer.

This animatic was made using the developed storyboard and used the backing track to the "I SPIT ON YOUR GAVE".

PHOTO STORYBOARD
Below ARE SOME, not all PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE DRAWN STORYBOARD WE CREATED. the PHOTOGRAPHS ALLOWS YOU TO SEE THE POTENTIAL SHOT OF EACH SCENE, WE TRIED TO explain and drew. THEY ARE ALL BASED WITHIN CHRIST THE king SIXTH FORM COLLEGE AND IT ALLOWS you SEE IF THE SHOTS WE PREDICTED TO USE WILL WORK FOR OUR PROJECT. IN THE SHOTS ARE SOME ACTIONS FROM THE storyBOARD AND IN SOME IT's JUST THE LOCATION; allowing you to see where the action would take place. the MAIN REASON FOR THE PHOTOGRAPHs are TO ILLUSTRATE THE IDEA OF THE ANGLE AND FRAMING OF THE SHOT WE TRIED TO MAP OUT ABOVE, although some of the shots look a bit different to the actual image drawn but as we work on our project we are assured to make changes.
